Could you spare a small amount of time to become a regular reading helper at Larkrise PS?
To help our children become confident and independent readers, the Early Years Foundation Unit (EYFS) Lead, who coordinates EYFS and Year 1, would like to build a team of volunteers who regularly come to the school to listen to to the children read, and talk to them about their books and reading choices. This is more important than ever following the missed schooling during the COVID pandemic.
The sessions would be in the morning (9:30 – 11:00am) or afternoon (1:00 – 2:30pm), for Reception and Year 1 children. Since children thrive on routines and consistency, the school are asking for volunteers who could come in weekly (or fortnightly) for at least a half-term. We welcome parents/carers, grandparents, students from the local universities, or members of the community who have extra time on their hands!
If you would like to learn more about this programme, please contact us so we can put you in touch with the EYFS Coordinator at the school.
